I just can't narrow down photos! I don't have a problem with it, though. I enjoy documenting our life and I'm not willing to sacrifice memories for the sake of only having one spread a week!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSs693G-JSW7_-B6dD2YBhDTw120Qcl1PGpnuic1m5xG2M4VGjjKAGnJjD_70ov0_UP1LQ0ifteginK-EqRjAm08uaiedVcsLj2AIIml8VZ065zsLCZty1UaQciovpmbjlcPdD6jBkHmc/s1600/DSC_0041.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjSs693G-JSW7_-B6dD2YBhDTw120Qcl1PGpnuic1m5xG2M4VGjjKAGnJjD_70ov0_UP1LQ0ifteginK-EqRjAm08uaiedVcsLj2AIIml8VZ065zsLCZty1UaQciovpmbjlcPdD6jBkHmc/s1600/DSC_0041.jpg" height="582" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
This spread was a little difficult for me because I don't work with reds and greens very much, so I had a hard time deciding on cards and embellishments.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEialTV3NyeyhogjjI0QlWCjwvQ_zw-B015hZetop1d6ogaisDspvw6iCdw8yTb8sC9VDCClRSvkkR9Qra6bXrXVMUU9gaRRBy4IKDLsd6iWdvzdJ-KGLDx3-64-96B7yYRFv_0GRlxcSdo/s1600/DSC_0050.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEialTV3NyeyhogjjI0QlWCjwvQ_zw-B015hZetop1d6ogaisDspvw6iCdw8yTb8sC9VDCClRSvkkR9Qra6bXrXVMUU9gaRRBy4IKDLsd6iWdvzdJ-KGLDx3-64-96B7yYRFv_0GRlxcSdo/s1600/DSC_0050.JPG" height="426" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
I love the letterpress card that I got from the <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/">Studio Calico</a> sneak night in December. I have a card for each month and they are all so lovely!! The "Favorite Moments" card is the perfect card to record my favorite January moments, which is one of the goals I made for this year. I added the "January" from my <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/202820503/calendar-clear-photopolymer-stamp-set?ref=shop_home_active_4">Calendar</a> stamp set.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqfTLBIF3Oy9-TTjKNF9bycs4JmKfIvpamfRkz12AY-3kV0KXGFgNyuoclQTyt81Ac6MzCDzzrwtm-APnY5blDv_4CLXj-dX1b5Bw2jw8OIS-VHldKEZ3ah2mr9fj_a7QgRNK9hLGryEA/s1600/DSC_0046.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqfTLBIF3Oy9-TTjKNF9bycs4JmKfIvpamfRkz12AY-3kV0KXGFgNyuoclQTyt81Ac6MzCDzzrwtm-APnY5blDv_4CLXj-dX1b5Bw2jw8OIS-VHldKEZ3ah2mr9fj_a7QgRNK9hLGryEA/s1600/DSC_0046.JPG" height="426" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
My favorite card in this spread is the "Books" card that I made! Another goal I made for this year is to document all the books I read or listen to as audiobooks and rate them. I used the stars in my <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/216929102/this-year-photopolymer-stamps?ref=shop_home_active_7">This Year</a> stamp set (all five stars are attached), and then colored the appropriate ones to rate the books. It turned out sooooo great and I love it!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgq0UaTbNF7geRO88SxxWbB20hcjfBZ6PcqLiuOMDrio05BrfxFqnCRU4KMmr25oJbe_jxnzspmdYqG7stQahasxYDIaRE_vORtPekIBBTFJVDYPIoSy8HdFhdjTLUO9UlfstIrg47HtiI/s1600/DSC_0063.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgq0UaTbNF7geRO88SxxWbB20hcjfBZ6PcqLiuOMDrio05BrfxFqnCRU4KMmr25oJbe_jxnzspmdYqG7stQahasxYDIaRE_vORtPekIBBTFJVDYPIoSy8HdFhdjTLUO9UlfstIrg47HtiI/s1600/DSC_0063.JPG" height="610" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
At the end of January, Berlin and I got SO sick. I made an enchilada soup, and B ended up loving it! We love that she loves food so much - even food that is a bit spicy!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyGOtw228gFksMPGpDkJzWrUqZluNjNB572r6Z_3Hzg_JNjEXKSKgyCK7Hk7QSByiG-dIFCQKn3lUcSOqDA-9AtS0ADq6D7npfkZgIPn_SKdiL5ns8GuRWW1GpoD5tudPC8H7XOAE3P0M/s1600/DSC_0067.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiyGOtw228gFksMPGpDkJzWrUqZluNjNB572r6Z_3Hzg_JNjEXKSKgyCK7Hk7QSByiG-dIFCQKn3lUcSOqDA-9AtS0ADq6D7npfkZgIPn_SKdiL5ns8GuRWW1GpoD5tudPC8H7XOAE3P0M/s1600/DSC_0067.JPG" height="426" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The "Good Times" are chip board stickers that I have had for so long. You know, if feels really good to use all these embellishments that I have had for... years? <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAGhTc0AOcV2gjJBhJEXQlYmOyrBWuddR7-odkpR7vp0jyM7CAh46DW3suZj4jQjNKHw7Kj_XkwtvF_ptdrW6DyjGQ0BUqsxLyIi28dHj5_RuQPesjkk5vDzTEtpmUf7taPIAPqWGK4eI/s1600/DSC_0071.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgAGhTc0AOcV2gjJBhJEXQlYmOyrBWuddR7-odkpR7vp0jyM7CAh46DW3suZj4jQjNKHw7Kj_XkwtvF_ptdrW6DyjGQ0BUqsxLyIi28dHj5_RuQPesjkk5vDzTEtpmUf7taPIAPqWGK4eI/s1600/DSC_0071.JPG" height="426" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
This washi is one of my very first rolls of washi and again, I rarely use it... It was perfect for this spread, though!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrTIidzR1n5ASDTzZfqdEWEgZCENMSp40Pmb0k4ppEYbvfNdvHWZtpO20kERgyxGgUBuY3cnDkF5PBS8rQwJWcgQCMWmC9RuszpJHPexsQRQkQB7t21oyk2VRpLyPmwkkuo2_kAA7GRV4/s1600/DSC_0057.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgrTIidzR1n5ASDTzZfqdEWEgZCENMSp40Pmb0k4ppEYbvfNdvHWZtpO20kERgyxGgUBuY3cnDkF5PBS8rQwJWcgQCMWmC9RuszpJHPexsQRQkQB7t21oyk2VRpLyPmwkkuo2_kAA7GRV4/s1600/DSC_0057.jpg" height="324" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Although the color scheme is out of my comfort zone, and it took me awhile, I like the way the spread ended up. It's a good end to January!<br />

<br />
This week, Berlin turned 11 months old and I tried so hard to get some good photos of her! While she most definitely would rather be doing something else, and she did throw a little fit, I managed to get some acceptable photos of her. The journaling card on this page is from the <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/">Studio Calico</a> Far Far Away PL kit and the January card is from an add on from the December kits!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I love this photo of B leaning in for a kiss from Omi! I attached some glitter tape, a banner cut in half, and a chip board sticker to highlight how cute this moment was!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiON6k_XaekSYJBI8PmwYmgCv33pe8B8pGJYlkcvGGvhXdPMcNbJ3IVWx7x7CyWtvNRDtdUuNw9iaU6mAFW1qywyzYSFlEY33AK-Wi4IYHlrBwFq3DCB5Mc_2205YGrJ3oZHr7dYmiSEsU/s1600/DSC_0027.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiON6k_XaekSYJBI8PmwYmgCv33pe8B8pGJYlkcvGGvhXdPMcNbJ3IVWx7x7CyWtvNRDtdUuNw9iaU6mAFW1qywyzYSFlEY33AK-Wi4IYHlrBwFq3DCB5Mc_2205YGrJ3oZHr7dYmiSEsU/s1600/DSC_0027.JPG" height="586" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I used some Project Life cards from my stash for this side of the layout. I don't use many of the Design D pages, but I really want to add variety to my book. These layouts are difficult for me, for some reason! It gets me out of my groove and I stall a little bit before I can make any decisions. I like the way this page turned out, though, and I'm really glad that I'm pushing myself.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiAdFycwesqQo6cl4ZSsccLEmxGC-60dOXOlb5lnitTjAuWs1trbmO7TGRcygXXHSczzBHbRlgmOF0p9ee1CUMjCwOvflEKeAzYQRVRlwOFce917mTWfdRWGSZrI5ycDO6ZddYAdv3XJY/s1600/DSC_0031.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiAdFycwesqQo6cl4ZSsccLEmxGC-60dOXOlb5lnitTjAuWs1trbmO7TGRcygXXHSczzBHbRlgmOF0p9ee1CUMjCwOvflEKeAzYQRVRlwOFce917mTWfdRWGSZrI5ycDO6ZddYAdv3XJY/s1600/DSC_0031.JPG" height="426" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I added some wooden sequins to this "Today" card to jazz it up a little. It felt empty and I love the way the sequins look. The "JAN" is a wood veneer that came in my January Far Far Away kit and it looked perfect adhered to one of my hand painted cards.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNbaG3WTX8y5e5NX8wQFOfkE6pU9QITlVrCQu1YKRAbDMwu2rd3y0nm55irIYDKNj4Z5rBwA4-szO2nAkqzN_DthzzUcCd-CHzgUKadLlTrMxVaBm_fJEC7mgq3Phm9pd6NCC-PKOujJI/s1600/DSC_0034.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiNbaG3WTX8y5e5NX8wQFOfkE6pU9QITlVrCQu1YKRAbDMwu2rd3y0nm55irIYDKNj4Z5rBwA4-szO2nAkqzN_DthzzUcCd-CHzgUKadLlTrMxVaBm_fJEC7mgq3Phm9pd6NCC-PKOujJI/s1600/DSC_0034.JPG" height="426" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I have had this little piece of wood for such a long time! I have never known what to do with it, but when I laid it on the card I felt like this it was in the right place! I added the baker's twine and the puffy flowers sticker from my stash, and dug out the little camera charm. This is one of my favorite aspects of this page!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgP9njSifOEYg0odOl4LBJ6euYLkLRwHJ7zqJES_3Lokcw4-pEkxVVLNvR2SkLlql0WGqPECo0MZe8ZfOHMu8aVKeHbtDRxycTBBeuDK39zDXv6RtPuqayasZrNI9PIyzBWXYdvhjml-3s/s1600/DSC_0035.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgP9njSifOEYg0odOl4LBJ6euYLkLRwHJ7zqJES_3Lokcw4-pEkxVVLNvR2SkLlql0WGqPECo0MZe8ZfOHMu8aVKeHbtDRxycTBBeuDK39zDXv6RtPuqayasZrNI9PIyzBWXYdvhjml-3s/s1600/DSC_0035.JPG" height="426" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
The "it's happening" is from my <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/216929102/this-year-photopolymer-stamps?ref=shop_home_active_7">This Year</a> stamp set, that I just stamped on a chip board banner. I thought it was a great way to document Berlin's first tooth since we have been waiting so long for teeth to appear!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6jrYzgKFIdmAJ0i9TkoVtK17f9sRYlynPponnOCGiiAl4Prj3nz1wBjYEGj4ZvANRAmkfISKsE80d-wb7eoYCxmVI-AUzZfANuP1-CYuNKcfRJI0AbDLoSK06FXPeNAaoUpIUh_HNw4k/s1600/DSC_0019.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj6jrYzgKFIdmAJ0i9TkoVtK17f9sRYlynPponnOCGiiAl4Prj3nz1wBjYEGj4ZvANRAmkfISKsE80d-wb7eoYCxmVI-AUzZfANuP1-CYuNKcfRJI0AbDLoSK06FXPeNAaoUpIUh_HNw4k/s1600/DSC_0019.JPG" height="330" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I love this spread. The extra details really do add so much more to the pages. I didn't use a whole lot of embellishments in my Project Life last year, but now I don't think I could go back to having unembellished pages! <br />

<br />
I used more cards from the January Far Far Away <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/">Studio Calico</a> kit, except for the 4x6 cards that I just pulled from my stash. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The rhinestones I added to this "Best year ever" card are my favorite element of this page, although the glitter pennant is a close second!<br />

Confession: I love buying ribbon. I never use it. Another goal I have is to use more ribbon! Now that I've started, I don't think it will be to tough because I just love how this card turned out!<br />

This spread turned out super great - definitely one of my favorites! What do you think? Are you documenting this year? I would love to see what you're doing, leave a link in my comments and I'll check it out!<br />

I just love how this layout turned out! Even though Berlin wasn't really cooperating when I took the photos of her, I made it work. I love documenting her little personality - even the ones that aren't so happy!</div>

I have been hoarding these mint alpha stickers for years. Literally. I couldn't resist any more when I saw how well it paired with the Project Life card that came in my <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/">Studio Calico</a> Far Far Away January kit. I drew around some of the animals with a yellow <a href="http://www.stampinup.com/ECWeb/ItemList.aspx?categoryID=1841">Stampin' Up blendabilities</a> marker. I love the way it turned out! The yellow card is from the Mad Lib card and stamp set that was an add on with the Studio Calico Park Ave. December kit. </div>

At the moment, my scrapbook area set up is less than ideal, so I forget about a lot of the good stuff I have. One of those things is this "Currents" stamp from <a href="http://www.lifelovepaper.com/">Life.Love.Paper</a> that was sold on <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/">Studio Calico</a> a couple years ago. I feel like it's a great introduction to the book that will document this year.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0G2rkd_MOogzJtp-eI2h7NUHeg9-NGXSIf5br3bEQCM5QSRObkwMj5qm1El7is3ANL4d5ZDDGh36TVq4SKjr1OHaPZ_w3n9hsSKIrlG986cf06De4_ABTC2k9Juvlj8wNWUDt3157vpw/s1600/DSC_0149.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi0G2rkd_MOogzJtp-eI2h7NUHeg9-NGXSIf5br3bEQCM5QSRObkwMj5qm1El7is3ANL4d5ZDDGh36TVq4SKjr1OHaPZ_w3n9hsSKIrlG986cf06De4_ABTC2k9Juvlj8wNWUDt3157vpw/s1600/DSC_0149.JPG" height="590" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I wasn't quite sure if I wanted to label each of us and list our ages. I thought of this as I started working on these pages, but I left off the decision until the very end... when I had nothing else to do. Then I decided to just go for it! I like how it turned out. It's a good introduction to all the main characters and where we're currently at.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5h_RGrExE2ohRqeDmTm85HUKCzvzMMHOWoVTiB4XHeYtjCsyHMFWmJXg14TzBI6vy6-n9WQwKuP2JQf4EhHfyZVRAOqE860y8x4c8WNjkgK7LhB4dkUOmHmfYsOT-cx2JsCeiQyRr1QU/s1600/DSC_0151.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg5h_RGrExE2ohRqeDmTm85HUKCzvzMMHOWoVTiB4XHeYtjCsyHMFWmJXg14TzBI6vy6-n9WQwKuP2JQf4EhHfyZVRAOqE860y8x4c8WNjkgK7LhB4dkUOmHmfYsOT-cx2JsCeiQyRr1QU/s1600/DSC_0151.JPG" height="426" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Also, I just love that "Twenty Fifteen" overlay from the <a href="http://www.studiocalico.com/">Studio Calico</a> Far Far Away kit! I stitched it on the "Hello" card and trimmed it down. Hello, twenty fifteen, indeed!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9NEwW35CF3XIh21VOAnqm4neeM1PPDnNMCIWDF8OpKGERdA5Ytjq0sib3b8P9Q3KzevlzY6XdfkfsApoqATAiQ5gZkc68VGzOrVUJODzlpR44wUFT5PYv7oRJaYy_IBRKd-H0SDk93PY/s1600/DSC_0154.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh9NEwW35CF3XIh21VOAnqm4neeM1PPDnNMCIWDF8OpKGERdA5Ytjq0sib3b8P9Q3KzevlzY6XdfkfsApoqATAiQ5gZkc68VGzOrVUJODzlpR44wUFT5PYv7oRJaYy_IBRKd-H0SDk93PY/s1600/DSC_0154.JPG" height="592" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Yes, the introduction continues because, like always, I can't control myself when it comes to choosing which photos to print! I also wanted to take the opportunity to document the goals that we have set for ourselves this year. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I made the cross stitch chart for this 2015 and stitched it up with gold embroidery floss. I absolutely love the finished product! I'm considering digitizing the chart and offering it here on the blog for free, if there is any interest. Let me know!<br />

In addition to documenting our family goals, I wanted to write about what Jake is currently up to with his job and church responsibilities, how Berlin and the dogs are doing, and the things that I want to accomplish this year, too.<br />

The little grey 2015 and the "Best year yet" both came from the Studio Calico December kit, Park Ave. The big, pink 2015 and the grey 2015 polka dot are from my <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/216928358/2015-photopolymer-stamp-set?ref=shop_home_active_7">2015 stamp set</a>. I am so excited to use my 2015 stamps throughout this year!<br />

Here are the two pages together. I'm so happy with how these pages turned out! It's going to be a super great year and I am so excited to be documenting the year on paper and also on this blog, with all of you. <br />
<br />
Have you done an opening layout for 2015?! If so, I'd love to see it! Add a link in the comments and I'll check it out!<br />

I know I just finished a <a href="http://katicupcake.bigcartel.com/product/lillian-oliver">Lillian + Oliver</a> quilt, but this pattern is just perfect for babies! I made this quilt for one of my great friends from college. She came to me some time after she found out that she was pregnant and I was so honored to make this quilt for her first baby!<br />

One of the things that I wanted to do for my Project Life this year is to actually have an opening page. For my first album, I just sort of started. The second album started with the birth of Berlin. This is the first time that I'm starting the album with the beginning of the year, so I wanted to get some photos of the family. Yesterday was the day! No one was sick, there was plenty of sun, and we were all getting dressed up for church anyway.</div>

Berlin was pretty good during the photo shoot. I didn't get any photos of her smiling, but she wasn't crying or throwing a fit, so that's good enough!<br />

I have also completed the January installment of the <a href="http://thefrostedpumpkinstitchery.bigcartel.com/product/2015-story-time-sampler-pdf-cross-stitch-pattern">Story Time Sampler</a>!! The frames and the title are coming along slowly, and I am in no rush to get it all done. I just want to stay caught up month-by-month. <br />

As I get better (I can't believe I'm still sick!), I intend to spend more time on my spreads and make them more intricate. Usually, when I get sick, it's for about 24-48 hours and I'm good to go again. Today is day #6. I am feeling better, but I am still sick and I hate it!<br />
<br />
I did manage to make it down to the studio to work on my 2015 Project Life! I have plans for a great opening 2015 page, but I haven't taken the photos for it yet because it's been one thing after another. Hopefully I'll get those photos taken this week so I can get that going!<br />

Anyways, here's the first page I have done!<br />

I never shared any of my Project Life spreads last year, but since we had Berlin I have been documenting her growth week by week. It's been a lot of fun, but also so much work! After she turns one, I plan on still keeping up with her, but only taking these deliberate photos once a month instead of every week! B is always going to be a huge part of my Project Life, but I really want to strive to document the other things that happen around here, too. Such as those amazing <a href="http://www.howsweeteats.com/2012/12/salted-dark-chocolate-truffle-cookies/#_a5y_p=1065108">cookies</a> that I made!<br />
<br />
So, I'm happy to have gotten a start and I can't wait to get back down to the studio to do more!<br />

Well, I finished that year long stitch-along (SAL) at the end of that year and here is the finished product (still not framed...)!<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2PBuU-LR5_pm8l5c2TOe0e61tHHxYZhyphenhyphenzk1qmLY5PO6fFQ1yZ7Nn9JGMu5WutXmpAXDXQ6cYKlbu4mW0MlXs0USsa7NzIgHmuADaVPU7AVPFVvflzMDOCgVwg5EQIUi2iz6qiCj2RWXY/s1600/DSC_0285.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2PBuU-LR5_pm8l5c2TOe0e61tHHxYZhyphenhyphenzk1qmLY5PO6fFQ1yZ7Nn9JGMu5WutXmpAXDXQ6cYKlbu4mW0MlXs0USsa7NzIgHmuADaVPU7AVPFVvflzMDOCgVwg5EQIUi2iz6qiCj2RWXY/s1600/DSC_0285.JPG" height="640" width="572" /></a></div>
<br /></div>
<div>
After finishing that sampler, I immediately purchased the 2014 sampler to keep stitching along with everyone. That sampler is the <a href="http://thefrostedpumpkinstitchery.bigcartel.com/product/2014-sampler">Once Upon a Time Sampler</a> and it was so fun! Here is this one finished, also!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>

<div>
This year's sampler is the <a href="http://thefrostedpumpkinstitchery.bigcartel.com/product/2015-story-time-sampler-pdf-cross-stitch-pattern">Story Time Sampler</a>, which starts on Thursday. These SALs are SO MUCH FUN and I absolutely love doing them. This year long project is perfect for just biting off a bit at a time, since each month's section is delivered to your inbox at the beginning of each month. It's easy for me to stay current and excited for the next installment!</div>

<br /></div>
<div>
You can join any of these samplers at any time, although for the previous samplers, you will get the whole pattern at once instead of a month at a time. I hope you'll consider stitching along with me and following the hashtag #storytimesampler on Instagram!</div>

<br />
Second, I am SO EXCITED for this year!! Last year was a really difficult year and life just started turning a bright corner as the year was coming to a close, so I just know this year is going to be fantastic!!<br />
<br />
Third, I want to share my goals for this year, but I want to preface the list by saying that I purposefully did not set any lofty goals this year. In November I listened to the audiobook version of <a href="http://www.amazon.com/Essentialism-Disciplined-Pursuit-Greg-McKeown/dp/0804137382/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420564949&sr=8-1&keywords=essentialism+by+greg+mckeown">Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less</a> by Greg McKeown and while I don't agree with everything he said, some of it did hit home for me. One of those things was to do less, better and another was to say no more than you say yes. He said it this way, and I'm paraphrasing, "if it's not an overwhelmingly clear yes to you, it should probably be a no". Now, I enjoy serving and I love making things <i>for people I know</i>, but I am now working on doing only those things that are absolutely essential or that I really, truly want to do. So, that's where I'm at! I'm not in competition to accomplish the most or to work late nights when I don't have to. I want my goals to be attainable and enjoyable.<br />
<br />
So, with that said, here is my goal list for this year!<br />
<ul>
<li>Make a quilt for Berlin (I feel so guilty that I haven't done this already!)</li>
<li>Complete the <a href="http://thefrostedpumpkinstitchery.bigcartel.com/product/2015-story-time-sampler-pdf-cross-stitch-pattern">Story Time Sampler</a></li>
<li>Read the books that go along with the Sampler</li>
<li>Make two quilts for my family reunion auction</li>
<li>Finish all unfinished quilts (I have four)</li>
<li>Learn how to use Illustrator</li>
<li>Document the year with Project Life</li>
<li>Keep designing stamps and grow the <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheSapphireMemories?ref=hdr_shop_menu">shop</a></li>
</ul>
<div>
It's not a super long list, but I think it's doable and each item on my list has value to me. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I also want to share my One Little Word for this year. I haven't done this previously, and I'm not really interested in being affiliated with the organization, but I love the idea of having one word to focus on for an entire year.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The word I chose is WIN. This word is also influenced by Greg McKeown's book. Greg told a story about a football coach that has a very successful high school football team. When the coach is asked how they're so successful, the coach says, "We win". While the coach has the stats to back up his statement, he is using the word 'win' as an acronym for "what's important now". He has taught his players to continually evaluate the game and do whatever is important RIGHT now. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I definitely want to win this year. I want to be better than I was last year. I want to accomplish more of what I really want. But I also really want to focus on what's important now. I tried reminding myself of the concept during the last few weeks of last year and it really helped me prioritize my day in each moment. Do I really need to do the dishes right now, or can I spend some time with Berlin? The dishes got done, but I also actually spent more time playing with B instead of just trying to get things checked off of my to-do list. Does the list govern me or is the list assisting me in my day? </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Food for thought. I recommend McKeown's book. There are some great values and principles in it, even if you don't agree with everything.</div>

I had forgotten all about the first one I had made. This pattern is just so good. I am in the process of making another and I'm sure there are plenty more in my future.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-oDGD3YfGmNuOh-dCP4Y2Ii8jtt0A5ApLqIpsGIDO5F6TTwScQlSdgayMz34RcRMSyty_qnzUZt_AUsFoyEX8weuDzcEbJfYh3Ugn4OO3X9rbUaVD1HueKY_eRmItsTuoB0uMc732mw8/s1600/DSC_0465.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi-oDGD3YfGmNuOh-dCP4Y2Ii8jtt0A5ApLqIpsGIDO5F6TTwScQlSdgayMz34RcRMSyty_qnzUZt_AUsFoyEX8weuDzcEbJfYh3Ugn4OO3X9rbUaVD1HueKY_eRmItsTuoB0uMc732mw8/s1600/DSC_0465.JPG" height="425" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
This quilt is quite literally going to be the sister to <a href="http://bauerhandcrafted.blogspot.com/2013/02/lillian-oliver-finished.html">this Lillian + Oliver</a> I made in 2013. That same best friend is having another baby and when I found out I said, "Okay, if you have a girl, I'm going to make her a quilt with the same pattern I used before. If you have another boy, I'll do something different!" She was down with the plan, so when the gender was announced, I knew just what to do!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGt-QRyjNpajG1tTca-JNPcizgQq_G27RPC3nt1K19fe-POvrffxFwFm_BpUDMjGtquTuqwyk8UHd0UtdsguxZEJscuMoDRD1nkfKdZX80gH6jpvIJu7aBClSoIIK626qv_5q-2N3VUJI/s1600/DSC_0472.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjGt-QRyjNpajG1tTca-JNPcizgQq_G27RPC3nt1K19fe-POvrffxFwFm_BpUDMjGtquTuqwyk8UHd0UtdsguxZEJscuMoDRD1nkfKdZX80gH6jpvIJu7aBClSoIIK626qv_5q-2N3VUJI/s1600/DSC_0472.JPG" height="426" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
I walked the quilt shop for what seemed like hours trying to find fabric that I wanted to use. I picked up one fat quarter, then another... it was a slow process. Eventually, though, it all came together!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_ZHS-FM-vNNsnJlGSpiI6dy2RGtNT8imGt6goM0aK4QIaDq_9NgZzfhFLoXHhA9k1GIkUyo__M2lqssvuMjrUwQViGsxzAUN35OLLo3ATB27IYSuSPqtp-yjnQBHurazT0HGTACe6ONg/s1600/DSC_0474.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_ZHS-FM-vNNsnJlGSpiI6dy2RGtNT8imGt6goM0aK4QIaDq_9NgZzfhFLoXHhA9k1GIkUyo__M2lqssvuMjrUwQViGsxzAUN35OLLo3ATB27IYSuSPqtp-yjnQBHurazT0HGTACe6ONg/s1600/DSC_0474.JPG" height="426" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
This quilt is way more pastel and no where near as bright as her brother's quilt, but you know, I think that's just fine! My friend has already received the quilt and she loves it, so I feel good about my choices!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEha7Me1OWgvzyinZPno0ej-Aap_PTZJWiwcazh0MfrTiHUtTNdzdq79leUKw41O-AGSThk1E7p5AgcRs53cQPyMnNZ2HIRP-3cvmu5H3gfqTpfj62h-wCpDh4RQk4Q0bbM0lIw26lA0fOY/s1600/DSC_0481.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEha7Me1OWgvzyinZPno0ej-Aap_PTZJWiwcazh0MfrTiHUtTNdzdq79leUKw41O-AGSThk1E7p5AgcRs53cQPyMnNZ2HIRP-3cvmu5H3gfqTpfj62h-wCpDh4RQk4Q0bbM0lIw26lA0fOY/s1600/DSC_0481.JPG" height="426" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
I regret that I'm not certain what all of the fabrics are. There are two pinks from Into the Woods, several Timeless Treasures cross hatches, a couple confetti dots, and I believe the chevron is Riley Blake. The back, however, is Best Fort Ever by Sarah Jane. I just love this little print! I quilted the quilt with a very light pink and I think it turned out great.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvezd3VClCvRxMWAwsOiMDvo9zK2-d4kh-mfwYPyiRSLskQBTJGasUrlG1zuIlij5H_EivoEVDCMWTSHBjZ0xg2RaMXlGu-gxCp8UoZqQ6eOrIQnArKdK86fw9EqINEdLQg36Yb_U1y4g/s1600/DSC_0487.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvezd3VClCvRxMWAwsOiMDvo9zK2-d4kh-mfwYPyiRSLskQBTJGasUrlG1zuIlij5H_EivoEVDCMWTSHBjZ0xg2RaMXlGu-gxCp8UoZqQ6eOrIQnArKdK86fw9EqINEdLQg36Yb_U1y4g/s1600/DSC_0487.JPG" height="426" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
This was my only quilt finish of 2014... I finally started that Modern Maples quilt I had been threatening for awhile, but it is probably only a quarter quilted. Now I have a few other priorities going on, so I'm not sure when I'll get around to finishing that, but it's on my goal list for this year. (Which, it just occurred to me, I should share! Maybe tomorrow?)<br />
<br />
Until then, have a great day!<br />

I have taken a big long break from blogging. After having our baby girl, Berlin, last February, my whole world was turned upside down and I sacrificed a lot of things as I figured out my life again. One of the things I sacrificed was this blog. Well, it's a new year and we have new opportunities to start fresh (and keep blogging!).<br />
<br />
As an update...<br />
Berlin is 10 months old. HOLY COW. That was fast.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhzfI86GoiREdSFcca4NEkP1OpAaKGGYJJJYvBsd7kL9IfSntyTKn96ITFAc8b18wSLYS4XZ7cfVh0-RBZaXSuFjIGdasn6EEOJU6bpJ6h08D855-vnw0IblnPxBEdtd_hgmzIOTUEASA/s1600/DSC_0479.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjhzfI86GoiREdSFcca4NEkP1OpAaKGGYJJJYvBsd7kL9IfSntyTKn96ITFAc8b18wSLYS4XZ7cfVh0-RBZaXSuFjIGdasn6EEOJU6bpJ6h08D855-vnw0IblnPxBEdtd_hgmzIOTUEASA/s1600/DSC_0479.JPG" height="265" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
B is an absolute doll and we love her so, so much. She is currently loving old cell phones, board books, and ripping up paper. She also just figured out how to walk with her baby walker yesterday! I'm sure there will be more to come about her here.<br />
<br />
Other than having a baby, the second big thing I did last year was starting to design my own photopolymer (clear) stamps! I opened an <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/TheSapphireMemories?ref=hdr_shop_menu">Etsy shop</a> and I've really been enjoying the process. I plan on posting more about my stamps and process this week.<br />
<br />
But wait! Stamps? I thought this was a quilting blog... Okay, you're right. I love, love quilting and I'm not going to stop! I have a bunch of quilts to start and finish on my goal list this year, but I do more than just quilt, so I am also going to be including my other crafty adventures here too, including my stamps and the Project Life spreads that I make. (I believe I've touched on my PL spreads previously, but I intend to be more in depth about it this year)<br />
<br />
I am really looking forward to this year and also looking forward to sharing all the aspects of the year here, with you!<br />
<br />
I'll be back tomorrow with a quilt that I finished last month!<br />

<br /></div>
<div>
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mbauerftw/11238998135/" title="Holiday Frost by Bauer Handcrafted, on Flickr"><img alt="Holiday Frost" height="427" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7411/11238998135_6295dd6c3e_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This is made from a free quilt pattern for Henry Glass and panel yardage for the center motifs. It was a pretty easy quilt to put together, once everything was cut. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mbauerftw/11239104793/" title="Holiday Frost by Bauer Handcrafted, on Flickr"><img alt="Holiday Frost" height="427" src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2832/11239104793_e831612ed6_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I made this quilt for my mum and she decided to send it off to a quilter, because she really wanted snowflakes. I think that the quilting turned out great! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mbauerftw/11239028124/" title="Holiday Frost by Bauer Handcrafted, on Flickr"><img alt="Holiday Frost" height="427" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7308/11239028124_c7dfc8707c_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I picked up the quilt from the quilter and bound it for my mum. It was a nice activity to do on cold nights by the fire!</div>
<div>

After finishing the <a href="http://bauerhandcrafted.blogspot.com/2013/11/fireworks-quilt-finished.html">Fireworks</a> quilt and a couple of other things, I took a bit of a sewing (and blogging, apparently) break, but I think I'm ready to hop back on the truck! The last couple weeks of November were pretty low key. I quilted a quilt for a friend and spent the rest of the time trying to keep motivated. I made the transition into the third trimester on Monday and I've been having a hard time finding energy to do things. <br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mbauerftw/11226651253/" title="28 Weeks by Bauer Handcrafted, on Flickr"><img alt="28 Weeks" height="427" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3702/11226651253_baea278ced_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
The weather certainly hasn't been helping me feel like getting off the couch... Temperatures plummeted this week and there's not a day above freezing in the forecast. It only snowed once, but we're not expecting it to go anywhere with temperatures in the teens.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mbauerftw/11226586366/" title="December snow by Bauer Handcrafted, on Flickr"><img alt="December snow" height="427" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5488/11226586366_5dab9e6e01_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
Although I have admittedly been on the couch a lot, I did start a cross stitch project for a Christmas gift. I've been working pretty steadily on it and I'm hoping to finish it up this week. <br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mbauerftw/11226607446/" title="Elephant Cross Stitch by Bauer Handcrafted, on Flickr"><img alt="Elephant Cross Stitch" height="427" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3783/11226607446_85f97621dc_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
I bought the pattern from <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/seeminglystitched">Seemingly Stitched</a>, but to be honest, I don't fully recommend it. There's 29 colors in the pattern and I think it's more complex than it needs to be. Sure, it looks cool when it's stitched, but it is quite a headache to get there... If you attempt it, I wouldn't set a harsh deadline, like Christmas, for yourself! <br />
<br />
In other exciting news, we went to Jake's parent's house for Thanksgiving and we got to pick out a blanket for baby girl that was made by Jake's late grandmother Johnson! She made a bunch of baby girl blankets, but Jake only has one sister and only nephews, so there were a lot to choose from. We came home with this gorgeous blanket and I'm thrilled to have it!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mbauerftw/11226638445/" title="Baby Girl's blanket from grandma by Bauer Handcrafted, on Flickr"><img alt="Baby Girl's blanket from grandma" height="427" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3758/11226638445_952d714051_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
Jake also put together this bike for baby girl! He purchased it in Germany while he was there for his mission 8 years ago and shipped it home. It was sitting in its box all these years and he was thrilled to assemble it, even though she won't be able to ride it for quite some time!<br />
<br />

<br />
Well, that's all that's been happening recently. I hope to be more exciting in the coming weeks! I finally have plans to sew on Monday!<br />

I started this <a href="http://thimbleblossoms.bigcartel.com/product/fireworks-pattern-155-pdf-pattern">Fireworks</a> quilt back in February and it took me until now to get it finished... Although I have some fair excuses, that's still a long time! Nevertheless, it is done now and I can relax about it!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mbauerftw/10860518315/" title="Fireworks Quilt by Bauer Handcrafted, on Flickr"><img alt="Fireworks Quilt" height="427" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7427/10860518315_30498977c3_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
The quilt top is made up entirely of Constellations by Lizzy House. I am totally in love with this fabric and I love that she made a print of stars on white so that I could use it as the background. <br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mbauerftw/10860682174/" title="Fireworks Quilt by Bauer Handcrafted, on Flickr"><img alt="Fireworks Quilt" height="640" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3736/10860682174_9977eaa841_z.jpg" width="427" /></a><br />
<br />
This is a Thimble Blossoms pattern by Camille Roskelly (link above) and it was written really well! The "fireworks" came together easily after I made the first block and got the hang of it. It did, however, take me 6 hours to sew together two blocks, since I made them two at a time. This is not a fast quilt, but I would say it is rewarding.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mbauerftw/10860564386/" title="Fireworks Quilt by Bauer Handcrafted, on Flickr"><img alt="Fireworks Quilt" height="427" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5539/10860564386_5eae9785fb_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
For the back I used more Constellations and Timeless Treasure's sketch in navy. I wanted to stick with dark fabric for the back because I want to use this as a stargazing quilt (once the weather warms up again!)<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mbauerftw/10860527615/" title="Fireworks Quilt by Bauer Handcrafted, on Flickr"><img alt="Fireworks Quilt" height="427" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7298/10860527615_ac436939ec_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
I quilted it in concentric circles and I absolutely LOVE it. I first fell in love with concentric circles when I quilted my Dad's <a href="http://bauerhandcrafted.blogspot.com/2012/11/body-and-sole-finished.html">Body and Sole</a> quilt last year. I knew then that I just had to have my own quilt with those circles someday. When I was stumped on how to quilt this quilt, I thought, why not? I used a variegated thread so it shifts from dark blue to light blue to white and I love that!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mbauerftw/10860866963/" title="Fireworks Quilt by Bauer Handcrafted, on Flickr"><img alt="Fireworks Quilt" height="427" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5549/10860866963_86f8dde349_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
Here's number two for my 99 in 999 goal number #33: Make a quilt for each month of the year! This one is going to be June. Or May. I haven't quite decided!<br />

<br />
I've been using all scraps for the front of the bag, including an abandoned <a href="http://bauerhandcrafted.blogspot.com/2013/03/pow-wow-quilt-top-finished.html">Pow Wow</a> quilt block. It feels really nice to use up that block that has been hanging around for forever! The front is now all quilted and I just need to quilt the back and assemble it! Hopefully I can get that done soon...!<br />

<br />
With the exception of the <a href="http://bauerhandcrafted.blogspot.com/2013/11/holiday-frost-finished-quilt-top.html">Holiday Frost</a> quilt, I have really been trying to finish up things that I've started this year. I'm hoping the <a href="http://bauerhandcrafted.blogspot.com/2013/03/fireworks-finished-quilt-top.html">Fireworks</a> quilt will finally be finished this week and my next work in progress priority is the <a href="http://bauerhandcrafted.blogspot.com/2013/03/pow-wow-quilt-top-finished.html">Pow Wow</a> quilt. I have purchased the thread to quilt it, but the backing that I had been planning on using isn't big enough and I'm not sure what to use...<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mbauerftw/10809245834/" title="Pow Wow Quilt Top by Bauer Handcrafted, on Flickr"><img alt="Pow Wow Quilt Top" height="427" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7435/10809245834_2380fb4c8a_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
I also started this damask giraffe in May and I just finished it. I still need to give it a little soak to get the kinks out and frame it, but I'm checking it off my list anyway! I really love the way this turned out and I wanted to start a new cross stitch project immediately after the last stitch!<br />
<br />

<br />
I have also made some good progress on our Christmas decorations...! The tree is up, decorated, and we enjoy it every night. I still want to put garland on our railings and wreaths on our mannequins, but I'm glad I still have plenty of time to get to it!<br />
<br />

<br />
Last, but not least, Jake has made some killer progress on the nursery this week. Poor guy has been working on it every night! The walls are painted, but still need to be touched up from where the paint leaked under the tape, and the crib is assembled!<br />

<br />
The top came together pretty quickly, once I sat down and dedicated some time to it. The panel squares were a bit annoying to cut out, since I had to try to center the motif within each square, but that was really the only thing that gave me trouble.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mbauerftw/10729684634/" title="Holiday Frost Quilt Top by Bauer Handcrafted, on Flickr"><img alt="Holiday Frost Quilt Top" height="427" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3832/10729684634_7bd1d9a314_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />

Already!I have already started on my Christmas sewing! I'm not making too many handmade gifts this year, but I did want to sew up a few small things. That includes these tiny bags!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mbauerftw/10729205834/" title="Tiny Drawstring Bags by Bauer Handcrafted, on Flickr"><img alt="Tiny Drawstring Bags" height="427" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7352/10729205834_81546effa1_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
I used <a href="http://www.incolororder.com/">Jeni's</a> beloved drawstring bag <a href="http://www.incolororder.com/2011/11/lined-drawstring-bag-pattern.html">pattern</a> (in the tiny size!) and the bags turn out perfect every time! They are super easy to sew together, and they feel so rewarding! I must admit, only two of these are gifts... the one on the left is for me!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mbauerftw/10729409423/" title="Tiny Drawstring Bags by Bauer Handcrafted, on Flickr"><img alt="Tiny Drawstring Bags" height="427" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3796/10729409423_da68180058_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
I only used scraps to make all three bags and that always feels like an accomplishment! These bags turned out super cute and I know their recipients are going to just love them! <br />

<br />
Second: I'm putting up my Christmas tree this weekend.<br />
<br />
Third: I finished this Halloween pillow just barely in time for Halloween!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mbauerftw/10602230234/" title="EPP Halloween Pillow by Bauer Handcrafted, on Flickr"><img alt="EPP Halloween Pillow" height="427" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7409/10602230234_026db5b2f4_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
I started this pillow at <a href="http://sewingsummit.com/">Sewing Summit</a> in September in <a href="http://miss-print.blogspot.com/">Kaye Prince</a>'s class. The pillow top is English paper pieced using Kaye's <a href="http://miss-print.blogspot.com/2013/07/introducing-doughnut-kiss.html">Doughnut Kiss</a> pattern. Once I got the hang of EPP, the pillow top came together well and fairly quickly. I am so, so glad I took her class because I super love this pillow and I super love the technique!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mbauerftw/10602462793/" title="EPP Halloween Pillow by Bauer Handcrafted, on Flickr"><img alt="EPP Halloween Pillow" height="640" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7296/10602462793_17d9fbb35f_z.jpg" width="427" /></a><br />
<br />
I used scraps from my <a href="http://bauerhandcrafted.blogspot.com/2013/10/halloween-plus-quilt-finished.html">Halloween Plus Quilt</a> and some scraps from my scrap bins. I used Moda Black for the background and pillow back. <br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mbauerftw/10602220605/" title="EPP Halloween Pillow by Bauer Handcrafted, on Flickr"><img alt="EPP Halloween Pillow" height="427" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3792/10602220605_1784e95f50_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
I'm excited to have this done and also to have another Halloween decoration! But I must say, I am even more excited to put away my Halloween things and start decorating for Christmas!!<br />

Here's a new batch of what's been happening over here!<br />
<br />
Ever since I learned English Paper Piecing, I have been wanting to make some hexagons. After I purchased the 1" hexagon punch (on sale!), I didn't waste any time in punching out some templates and basting some hexagons out of a little pack of Kona solids! I'm not sure on the layout or even what I'm going to do with them, but they are sure cute!!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mbauerftw/10594721744/" title="EPP Hexagons by Bauer Handcrafted, on Flickr"><img alt="EPP Hexagons" height="427" src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2845/10594721744_39e48eb2dd_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
While my sis has been in town, I wanted to take the opportunity to teach her how to sew a bit. She claimed that she had never touched a sewing machine, so I wanted to change that. She also wanted some pouches for pens and stickers. We started with <a href="http://www.noodle-head.com/">Anna's</a> <a href="http://www.noodle-head.com/2012/06/open-wide-zippered-pouch-diy-tutorial.html">Open Wide Zippered Pouch</a> and I think she did a great job! Then we started on another little pouch for her stickers. I adapted a pattern from something else to meet the specifications my sister had for her stickers. I think she did a great job on both little pouches!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mbauerftw/10594693215/" title="Adarsh and her bags by Bauer Handcrafted, on Flickr"><img alt="Adarsh and her bags" height="640" src="http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7328/10594693215_d36fc2928c_z.jpg" width="427" /></a><br />
<br />
After finishing up her bags, we decided to do a bit of thrifting! I picked up all of these adorable embroidery hoops and this irresistible tin! I plan on hanging the pink hoops in baby girl's room and using the tin for my English paper piecing things!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mbauerftw/10594957773/" title="Thrifting Finds by Bauer Handcrafted, on Flickr"><img alt="Thrifting Finds" height="427" src="http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5519/10594957773_b76140d58d_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
We had a bit of an impromptu dinner party on Sunday and while my sister was making dinner, I knew I needed to make something easy for dessert... Enter: <a href="http://www.pinterest.com/">Pinterest</a>. I found this recipe I pinned on one of my boards for an <a href="http://cookiesandcups.com/oreo-icebox-cake/">Oreo icebox cake</a>. It was incredibly easy and way more delicious than I anticipated. It was also way more rich than I thought it would be, too!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mbauerftw/10594730524/" title="Oreo Icebox Cake by Bauer Handcrafted, on Flickr"><img alt="Oreo Icebox Cake" height="640" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3690/10594730524_5066216323_z.jpg" width="480" /></a><br />
<br />
One of the very best things about this time of the year is the imminent arrival of the Starbucks holiday red cups. To my sister and I, this signals the beginning of the holidays. We were hoping that she would still be in town when the red cups were released so that we could enjoy our first cups together, but we didn't know when they'd come out! So, I googled it just for fun and found the <a href="http://www.countdowntoredcups.com/">Countdown to Red Cups </a>website. Amazing! We're so glad that we're not the only ones that look forward to this time of year!!<br />
<br />
We have also purchased the paint and the crib for baby girl's room!! We're not setting the crib up until the room is all painted, but we had to open the box to see how adorable it was!<br />

Also, baby girl is now 23 weeks along and when we had an ultrasound on Monday, they said that she weighs 1 lb. 3 oz! She's getting big! (and so am I!)<br />

I thought that since I've been working on the <a href="http://bauerhandcrafted.blogspot.com/2013/10/holiday-frost-beginning.html">Holiday Frost</a> quilt, I should snap a photo or two of where I'm at.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mbauerftw/10565187415/" title="Holiday Frost in Progress by Bauer Handcrafted, on Flickr"><img alt="Holiday Frost in Progress" height="427" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3727/10565187415_2b0725b93c_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
This quilt is made up mostly of borders, with some sashing between the panel pieces. So I decided to piece together all the pieces to the borders before laying out the quilt top and all that. Obviously, I haven't yet pressed any of the borders or sashing, but it is all sewn together!<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mbauerftw/10565206476/" title="Holiday Frost in Progress by Bauer Handcrafted, on Flickr"><img alt="Holiday Frost in Progress" height="427" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3733/10565206476_678854ee28_z.jpg" width="640" /></a><br />
<br />
I'm hoping it won't take me too long to find time to press all those seams and sew the quilt top together!<br />

<br />
This cocoa is so ridiculously easy and so exponentially better than anything that comes in a packet or a canister that it seems so silly to bother with anything else. It is also very customizable. Prefer a real dark chocolate cocoa? Add less sugar. Fancy a lip smackingly sweet drink? Cut back on the cocoa powder. Easy!<br />
<br />
First, ingredients:<br />
<br />
<ul>
<li>2 Tbsp. Hershey's unsweetened cocoa powder</li>
<li>2 Tbsp. sugar</li>
<li>1 c. milk</li>
<li>1/4 tsp. vanilla</li>
<li>dash of salt</li>
</ul>
<div>
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mbauerftw/10557114235/" title="Favorite Hot Cocoa by Bauer Handcrafted, on Flickr"><img alt="Favorite Hot Cocoa" height="427" src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2807/10557114235_3c7ae18d52_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
First, pour your milk into your mug and microwave for 1 1/2 - 2 minutes, depending on how hot you want your cocoa.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
While that is heating, mix together the cocoa powder, sugar, and dash of salt in a little bowl.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mbauerftw/10557120675/" title="Favorite Hot Cocoa by Bauer Handcrafted, on Flickr"><img alt="Favorite Hot Cocoa" height="427" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3676/10557120675_7ac3ca5398_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Once your milk is heated and your mix is well mixed, pour it in your mug and stir!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mbauerftw/10557193954/" title="Favorite Hot Cocoa by Bauer Handcrafted, on Flickr"><img alt="Favorite Hot Cocoa" height="427" src="http://farm4.staticflickr.com/3692/10557193954_1d818e656a_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
When that is well mixed, add the vanilla and stir.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/mbauerftw/10557389053/" title="Favorite Hot Cocoa by Bauer Handcrafted, on Flickr"><img alt="Favorite Hot Cocoa" height="427" src="http://farm3.staticflickr.com/2810/10557389053_9069b913f5_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Ta-da! You now have a super amazing mug of hot cocoa!</div>
<div>
